I got a new laptop at crimbo and have always just hibernated it with power lead in overnight rather than completely turned it off.
However, when a guy came to install wireless on it, he obviously had to restart it and when he put it back on, it wanted a password.
I certainly never had a password in the first place and no one else has had access to it to put one in place.
Unlike XP, it does not give a hint to what it might be.
Its like hitting a brick wall and I have projects for work that depserately need completing by the end of next week.
How on earth do I get round this?
Im fed up with this problem and am beginning to adopt the opinion that Vista is utterly crap and not without lot of problems.
Is there any of you that can at all help me solve this and somehow bypass the passowrd issue in order to firstly get into my computer and secondly look into the settings etc to avoid this happening again in future ????
Id very much appreciate a hand on this one.

I had the same thing happen. Had to call tech support and then reboot the laptop back to original factory settings. Very unhappy!
Lost everything! |

i had this problem so i went into control panel and under user account i clicked on user account, select change password settings, there you can delete it. when you log in next time your password screen will show up but all you have to do is hit enter and it will bypass phe password. |

| I had this problem years ago and that is what the tech told me to do. Change passwords, then leave it blank, |
