Downloaded Software Wont Play

HI,

I cant seem to play downloaded software, It downloads ok and installs ok but when I come to load it I get the generic message:

'Stopped working and checking for a solution for the problem'
'A problem has caused the program to stop working correctly'

I have checked compatability and thats fine (one of the programs was from bestvistadownloads)

I have run defender and it came back with no problems

Any ideas?
