slow video frame rate and sound in Vista

I have loaded Vista Ultimate, and the codec packs and the latest drivers on my Qosmio G20 laptop (2GB Ram), 2.3 Mhz processor. This is a fast laptop....and I am unable to play video at more than half speed, in any application (mpeg, avi, wmv) - Windows Media Player 11, Quicktime, Quicktime alternative, Media Player Classic, RealPlayer.........Vista is another example of Microsoft halting the testing and marketing a flawed product.....all in the name of quick return on investment.
My advice- wait for another 6-9 months for the Service Pack to come out, then buy....or stick with XP - at least it is useable, after 3 service packs!!!!
