In safe mode or any other mode I can see it hanging when it reaches the file C:\windows\system32\drivers\crcdisk.sys. None of the repair options work and even trying to reinstall fails. I can't even see drive c: from Command Prompt in the Repair utility and chksdsk also hangs. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have downloaded and run the Western Digital drive diagnostics and it says my drive is fine. The memory scan utility on the Vista Repair screen also reports memory is fine. I am able to see the data on the disk by using a utility I found online called Spotmanu although this didn't allow me to fix my installation as advertised but I can at least copy all my data off the drive. I see my next steps as copying off all the data, using a utility to completely wipe the drive and starting over (and probably going back to XP). This is, however a major pain so if anyone knows how I can get Vista back up I would really appreciate your assistance!
