"Side by Side Configuration is Incorrect"?? pop up

I have tried to download a couple programs for my Vista Home Premium from bestvistadownloads.com.

When I click the desktop icon on these programs I get:

"The application has failed to start because it's side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application even log for more detail."

Whatever an application event log is.

A few sites suggest a download for a C++ update from Microsoft??

All greek to me but I need help, please?
